The Monomyth, or Hero’s Journey, is …

The Ordinary Life World is where the Dialectic Journey begins. The Ordinary Life World where the would be Dialectician lives before they commit to become skilled in Dialectics, oblivious of the adventures to come. Their everyday Life-World is where the would be Dialectician reveals their true nature, capabilities and outlook on Life. The Ordinary Life World anchors the would be Dialectician as a finite human being and contains their Home World where they feel safe and comfortable.

Every Dialectic Adventure begins with a qualitative problem or central dramatic question that disrupts the Ordinary Theoretical and Practical Life Worlds. The would be Dialectician must must penetrate to the essence of the dramatic or qualitative dialectic question, answer it, and then return to restore balance, harmony and grounding to the ordinary Life-World.

The Dialectician’s Ordinary Life World is the safe haven upon which the Transcendental Life-World must be compared. Areas of contrast may include; the Transcendental Life World’s rich Noumenal Metaphysical Landscape, its emotionally enlivened Energy characteristics, and its ethereal Archetypal inhabitants and their strict Metaphysical Rules.

The Essential Dialect of the Monomyth is…

The Dialectic-Scientist is faced with a noumenal problem or a challenge they need to overcome which is their Call-to-Adventure.

The dialecticians adventure begins when they receive a Call-to-Action, such as a direct threat to their safety, their family, their way of life or to the peace of the community in which they live. The Call-to-Adventure may be as dramatic as a gunshot, as simple as a phone call, or as easy as finding this website. Whatever the Call is, and however it manifests itself, the Call-to-Adventure ultimately disrupts the comfort of the dialecticians ordinary  Life-World and presents a challenge or quest that must be undertaken.

The Call-to-Adventure sets the dialectic in motion by disrupting the comfort zone of the beginning Dialectic-Scientist’s ordinary Life-World. By presenting a dialectic challenge or quest that must be undertaken the Call-to-Adventure shows the dialectician that the ordinary binary Life-World of mainstream culture is untenable, dumb and needs to be transformed (you’ve felt it your entire life, that there was something wrong with the world), and establishes the stakes involved if the challenge is rejected.

Often delivered by the herald archetype, the Call-to-Adventure can take a multitude of forms, including: a message or announcement (The African Queen), a sudden storm (Home Alone), the arrival of the villain (High Noon), a death (Jaws, Some Like it Hot), an abduction (Star Wars), a man’s dying words (Citizen Kane), or the question of the meaning of being (Heidegger).

The Dialectic-Scientist may need a Succession-of-Calls before finally realizing that a challenge must be met and that their only means of escape and final liberation is to enter into the speculative transcendental Life-World. Although an eager or willing Dialectic-Scientist may accept the Call and skip over the upcoming Refusal-of-the-Call stage, the dialectician’s allies or threshold guardians will still express the fears and risks involved. Often the Dialectic-Scientist is presented with two or more dialectic dilemmas or Conflicting-Calls and must manage to answer more than one of them at a time.

The Separation is …

The Dialectic-Scientist often  experiences a Refusal-of-the-Call to adventure because they are afraid and/or ignorant.

Although the Dialectic-Scientist may be eager to accept the quest, at this stage they will have fears and lack of knowledge that will need to overcome. They will have second thoughts or even deep personal doubts as to whether or not they are up to the ego transcending challenge. When this happens, the dialectician may refuse the call and as a result may suffer somehow. The problem they face may seem to much to handle and the comfort of home far more attractive than the perilous road ahead.

A Dialectic-Scientist may Refuse-the-Journey because of fears and insecurities that have surfaced from the Call-to-Adventure. The beginning dialectician may be unwilling to challenge or make changes to their current theoretical and moral Life-World constructions, preferring instead to hide in the safety and comfort of their familiar egoist postmodern narrative.

The Refusal-of-the-Call may become an essential stage that communicates the risks involved in the dialectic journey that lies ahead, such as alienating all of your postmodern friends and family as you begin to find yourself being an expression of the newly emerging dialectically advanced antemodern or absolute culture.

In horror and thriller, the frightening and forbidding nature of the transcendental Life-World can lead a Dialectic-Scientist to be repeatedly “Called” to the adventure that they continue to Refuse. Each Call-and-Refusal must escalate the stakes, until the dialectician has no choice but to accept the Call-to-Adventure.

The Initiation is …

The Dialectician encounters Meeting-a-Mentor or someone who can give them advice and ready them for the dialectic journey ahead.

At this crucial point in the dialectic journey the dialectician is still unsure as to whether or not they should answer the Call-to-Adventure so they need guidance and will need a Mentor to give them something that they need. They could be given an object of great importance, insight into the dialectic dilemma they face, wise advice, practical training or even self-confidence. Whatever the Mentor provides the dialectician with it serves to dispel their doubts and fears and give them the strength and courage to begin their quest.

The dialectician Meets-the-Mentor or threshold guardian to gain confidence, insight, advice, training, or magical gifts to overcome their initial fears and cross the threshold of the adventure. A beginning Dialectic-Scientist may not wish to rush into the speculative transcendental Life-World blindly and, therefore, seeks the experience and wisdom of someone who has been there before. This Mentor has survived the perils and pitfalls of transcendental archetypes and can now provide the essential dialectic lessons, training and architectonics needed to better face their dialectic journey’s Tests-and-Ordeals. The Mentor may be a physical person, a dead philosopher, an internet presence, or an object such as a map, a logbook, or hieroglyphics.

Joseph Campbell: “With the personifications of his destiny to guide and aid him, the hero goes forward in his adventure until he comes to the ‘threshold guardian’ at the entrance to the zone of magnified power. Such custodians bound the world in four directions—also up and down—standing for the limits of the hero’s present sphere, or life horizon. Beyond them is darkness, the unknown and danger; just as beyond the parental watch is danger to the infant and beyond the protection of his society danger to the members of the tribe. The usual person is more than content, he is even proud, to remain within the indicated bounds, and popular belief gives him every reason to fear so much as the first step into the unexplored. The adventure is always and everywhere a passage beyond the veil of the known into the unknown; the powers that watch at the boundary are dangerous; to deal with them is risky; yet for anyone with competence and courage the danger fades.”

Lao Tse, Zhuangzi, Heraclitus, Zeno, Parmenides, Philo, Socrates, Plato, Aristotle, Plotinus, Boethius, William of Ockham, Thomas Aquinas, Nagarjuna, Jayatirtha, Vyasatirtha, William Blake, Hamlet, Hegel, Fichte, Kierkegaard, Marx, Engels, Nietzsche, Lukacs, Sartre, Travis Bickle, Obi wan Kanobi, Tyler Durden and Slavoj Zizek are a but few examples of famous dialecticians who may serve as a Mentors.

The Master is ….

The Dialectician leaves the ordinary Life-World behind and Crosses-the-Separation- Threshold into the transcendent Life-World.

The dialectician is now ready to act upon their Call-to-Adventure and truly begin their quest, whether it be primarily metaphysical, physical, spiritual or emotional. They may go willingly or they may be pushed, but either way they finally cross the threshold between the world they are familiar with and that which they are not. It may be leaving home for the first time in their life or just doing something they have always been scared to do. However the threshold presents itself, this action signifies the Dialectic-Scientist commitment to their journey and whatever it may have in store for them, so now they have officially become an intermediate level dialectician.

Crossing-the-Threshold into the intermediate level signifies that the Dialectic-Scientist has finally committed to the dialectic movement, journey or way of life. They are prepared to cross the gateway that separates the ordinary Life-World from that of the transcendent Life-World. Crossing-the-Threshold may require more than accepting one’s fears, a map, or a swift kick in the rear from there Mentor. The dialectician must confront a divisive event caused by the negative analyzing and dissecting power of the understanding, which forces them to commit to enter into the speculative Life-World of the reason and its need for ultimate synthesis, from which there is no turning back.

The threshold event will re-establish the qualitative problem or central dramatic question that propels the dialectic forward, and it will directly affect the Dialectic-Scientist, raising the stakes and forcing some action. Outside forces may push the dialectician ahead, such as an abduction of someone close to the them (The Searchers). A Chase may push the dialectician to the brink, presenting no choice but to commit (Some Like It Hot). The dialectician’s place in their ordinary Life-World may be usurped by a penguin (The Wrong Trousers), or the dialectician may cross the threshold with guns blazing and whip cracking (Raiders of the Lost Ark). Internal forces may also push the beginning Dialectic-Scientist to finally accept the reality and existence of the transcendent Life-World. Conrad finally decides to see a therapist (Ordinary People). Belle sacrifices herself in exchange for her father’s freedom (Beauty and the Beast). Alvy and Annie agree to go out on their first date (Annie Hall).

The Return is ….

The Dialectician now endures Road-of-Trials and tests of strength of will, meets friends, comes face to face with foes, and learns the rules of the transcendent Life-World.

Now finally out of their comfort zone the dialectician is confronted with an ever more difficult series of challenges that test them in a variety of ways. Obstacles are thrown across their path; whether they be metaphysical puzzles, philosophical paradoxes, physical hurdles or people bent on thwarting their progress. The Dialectic-Scientist must overcome each challenge they are presented with on their journey towards the Ultimate-Goal of all dialectic adventures; an absolute synthesis of all knowledge or Absolute-Knowing. The Penultimate-Goal of all dialectic journeys is the synthesis of all Knowing, Doing, Being and Meaning within a metaphysics of Absolute-Becoming.

The Dialectic-Scientist now needs to find out who can be trusted and who can’t. They need to earn allies and meet enemies who will, each in their own way, help prepare them for the greater ordeals and the deeper Dialectic-Phenomenology yet to come. This is the stage where the scientist’s dialectic and phenomenological skills and powers are tested. Every obstacle the dialectician faces helps them gain a deeper insight into their own noumenal self and the essential noumenal essence of all phenomenon.

Alliances and lifelong friendships are formed at this stage. Postmodern trolls may be exposed for what they are as antemodern or absolute allies are earned. A speculative sidekick may join up, or an entire Dialectic-Scientific Team may be forged. Soulless binary postmodern enemies and villains may be encountered and defeated. A rival to the dialectician’s Absolute-Knowing goal, such as a mathematician, metaphysician or logician, may reveal themselves.

At this stage the Dialectic-Scientist must prepare themselves for the greater ordeals yet to come. The dialectician needs this stage to test their dialectic skills and powers to the fullest, and perhaps they need to seek further guidance and training from their Mentor. This stage of initiation into the transcendent Life-World and becoming an intermediate dialectician also tests their commitment to the journey and to the dialectic movement, and questions whether or not they can succeed.

The Dialectician is a Noumenal Event because ….

The Dialectician approaches the Inmost-Cave, within which lies their Ultimate-Goal.

This stage is not about being in the Inmost-Cave, this stage is about the approach to it.

The Inmost-Cave is where the Ultimate-Goal of Absolute-Knowing lies for the Dialectic-Scientist.  It is the castle where the princess is hidden; it is the resting place of the Holy Grail; it is the temple and godhead of Sophia as the personification of wisdom and mother of creation; it is the vessel needed for alchemic transmutation of the prima materia into gold, etc, etc.

At the threshold to inmost cave the dialectician may once again face some of the doubts and fears that first surfaced upon their call to dialectic adventure. They may need some time to reflect upon their journey. The dialectician may need to do some deeper soul searching  in order to face the treacherous road ahead and find the courage to continue. This brief respite helps the dialectician understand the magnitude of the ordeal and the reward that awaits them, and it escalates the dialectic tension in anticipation of their upcoming ultimate and penultimate tests.

In the intermediate level, the Dialectic-Scientist has survived their descent into the speculative transcendent Life-World. They are finding their place in this strange yet familiar world and may need to take a break for a cigarette, a joke, or a romance, before facing the upcoming Supreme-Ordeal.

The Dialectic Scientists’ team may have had some setbacks during the tests, and the approach is necessary to reorganize the depleted ranks, remember the dead and wounded, and rekindle morale with a Mentor’s rally cry (back to the noumenal things-in-themselves!). The approach to the Inmost-Cave may signal a ticking clock or a heightening of the stakes. In romantic comedy the approach may force the dialectic lovers to question their commitment to finding Absolute-Love; one or both partners may express the need for a divine marriage or hieros gamos.

The Dialectician is a Phenomenal Event because ….

The Dialectician experiences a Supreme-Ordeal or major hurdle or obstacle, such as a life or death crisis.

The Supreme-Ordeal may be a dangerous physical test or a deep inner illogical dialectic inconsistency that the dialectician must face in order to survive and bring back a reward. Whether it be facing their greatest fear or most deadly foe, the Dialectic-Scientist must draw upon all of their skills and experiences gathered upon the path to the Inmost-Cave in order to overcome this most difficulty challenge.

Only through some form of “death” can the dialectician and their dialectic be reborn. Experiencing a metaphorical or metaphysical resurrection grants the dialectician the greater power and insight needed to fulfill their Penultimate-Goal and reach their journey’s end. This is the high-point of the dialectic movement and where everything the dialectician holds dear is put on the line. If they fail they may experience Kantian categorical madness and the ordinary Life-World that they know and love will be lost forever.

The Supreme-Ordeal may pit the dialectician against their Shadow or Villain, and the dialectician’s failure heightens the stakes and questions the journey’s success. The dialectician may have the power to defeat their Shadow in the Supreme-Ordeal, only to have to face greater forces or a new and improved Shadow in the journey’s second half (such as Neo had to face with Agent Smith in Matrix Reloaded).

In romantic journeys where the dialectic lovers are seeking Absolute-Love, death can mean the break-up of the relationship and the Supreme-Ordeal can be a Crisis-of-the Heart. Since the physical and metaphysical act of falling in love is a type of “death” or surrender, the Crisis-of-the-Heart may also be a dialectic reversal moment when a shape-shifting lover suddenly reveals a dark side that attempts to destroy the dialectician.

The Dialectician is an Absolute Event because ….

The Dialectician experiences a Meeting-with-the-Goddess or mystical marriage with the Divine-Feminine.

On their dialectic journey, the Dialectic-Scientist may meet a powerful female figure with whom they find unity and bonding of some kind. The Divine-Feminine may be a mystical or supernatural being, or she may be an ordinary woman or past flame with whom the hero gains support and synergy.

The Divine-Feminine represents the female side of the Dialectic-Scientist (their anima) which, if they can join forces with, will make them whole and their knowledge complete. Joining with the Divine-Feminine indicates unconditional and perfect love so in their combination, the hero and their other half form the syzygy of the Divine-Couple. The mystical union of the Hero-Saint and their anima or Divine-Feminine constitutes a Hieros-Gamos or joining of souls in a Sacred-Marriage . The dialectician is now able to alchemically combine complimentary opposites so they have mastered the intermediate dialectic stage.

Joseph Campbell: “The ultimate adventure, when all the barriers and ogres have been overcome, is commonly represented as a mystical marriage of the triumphant hero-soul with the Queen Goddess of the World. This is the crisis at the nadir, the zenith, or at the uttermost edge of the earth, at the central point of the cosmos, in the tabernacle of the temple, or within the darkness of the deepest chamber of the heart. The meeting with the goddess (who is incarnate in every woman) is the final test of the talent of the hero to win the boon of love (charity: amor fati), which is life itself enjoyed as the encasement of eternity. And when the adventurer, in this context, is not a youth but a maid, she is the one who, by her qualities, her beauty, or her yearning, is fit to become the consort of an immortal. Then the heavenly husband descends to her and conducts her to his bed—whether she will or not. And if she has shunned him, the scales fall from her eyes; if she has sought him, her desire finds its peace.”

The Essence of the Dialectician is ….

The Dialectic-Scientist now confronts whatever holds the power for their Life-World and reaches Atonement-with-the-Father.

In many myths and stories it is the father, or a father figure who has life and death power for the Life-World. Therefore, Atonement-with-the-Father is the center point of the journey and the Penultimate-Goal of the adventure. All the previous steps have been moving into this place and all that follows will move out from it. The Dialectic-Scientists ability to appropriate the energy and power from this event and form it into a coherent dialectic narrative or formula will determine the intensity of the Apotheosis, the quality of the Reward, and the level of Freedom-to-Live they have obtained at the end of the journey.

The father represents power, and particularly Penultimate-Power. If this power can be taken, then the dialectician becomes Omnipotent and experiences Absolute-Power for the first time. Although this step is most frequently symbolized by an encounter with a male entity, it does not have to be a male; just someone or some thing with incredible power. This person may well be a person in high authority, a boss or someone who has holds the power in some way. It may also be a god or immortal of some kind. The father figure may even be something symbolic, such as an idea or concept which acts as a directive to the hero.

In addition to the Omniscience or Absolute-Knowing experienced with the Divine-Feminine, after Atonement-with-the-Father the Dialectic-Scientist has experienced Omnipotence or Absolute-Power. With their newly acquired Absolute-Knowledge of Absolute-Power the dialectician may now begin to learn how to combine contradictory or antagonistic opposites and enter into the advanced dialectic level of their training.

Joseph Campbell: “Atonement consists in no more than the abandonment of that self-generated double monster—the dragon thought to be God (superego) and the dragon thought to be Sin (repressed id). But this requires an abandonment of the attachment to ego itself, and that is what is difficult. One must have a faith that the father is merciful, and then a reliance on that mercy. Therewith, the center of belief is transferred outside of the bedeviling god’s tight scaly ring, and the dreadful ogres dissolve. It is in this ordeal that the hero may derive hope and assurance from the helpful female figure, by whose magic (pollen charms or power of intercession) he is protected through all the frightening experiences of the father’s ego-shattering initiation. For if it is impossible to trust the terrifying father-face, then one’s faith must be centered elsewhere (Spider Woman, Blessed Mother); and with that reliance for support, one endures the crisis—only to find, in the end, that the father and mother reflect each other, and are in essence the same. The problem of the hero going to meet the father is to open his soul beyond terror to such a degree that he will be ripe to understand how the sickening and insane tragedies of this vast and ruthless cosmos are completely validated in the majesty of Being. The hero transcends life with its peculiar blind spot and for a moment rises to a glimpse of the source. He beholds the face of the father, understands—and the two are atoned.”

The Dialectic-Scientist has a realization in which a greater dialectic understanding is achieved.

Apotheosis begins with the dialecticians recognition of of the divine within themselves after Atonement-with-the-Father or Absolute-Power.  It is the beginning of Science and Self (with a capital “S”).  It is the beginning of the Dialectic Scientist being able to accomplish that which ordinary scientists, philosophers and artists cannot.  Apotheosis means ‘exhalation to divine rank or stature; deification’.  The Dialectic-Scientist becomes god like…like unto a god…in the sense that afterwards they are immortal and capable of feats and acts which surpass their old selves and other normal beings.

The Apotheosis is the stepless-step of the Dialectic-Scientists dialectic journey – the final transformation where the dialectician reaches the pinnacle of their power, purity, wisdom, and unity. The dialectician may still have work to do out in the world, but the Apotheosis is the end of their internal struggle since there is only nonduality and no more distinction between inner and outer.

Apotheosis is Neo realizing he is The One, and Luke becoming a Jedi, like his father before him.  This change must occur before the hero can achieve the Ultimate Boon or Treasure – i.e. Neo must accept that he is The-One before he can free humanity from the Matrix.

Campbell: “Those who know, not only that the Everlasting lies in them, but that what they, and all things, really are is the Everlasting, dwell in the groves of the wish fulfilling trees, drink the brew of immortality, and listen everywhere to the unheard music of eternal concord.”

The Dialectic-Scientist has earned the reward for accomplishing their dialectic goal.

After defeating the enemy, surviving death and finally overcoming their greatest personal challenge, the dialectician is ultimately transformed into a new state, emerging from battle as a stronger person and often with a prize.

Whatever the treasure, the dialectician has survived death, overcome their greatest fear, slain the dragon, or weathered the Crisis-of-the-Heart, and now earns the Reward that they sought. The dialecticians Reward comes in many forms: a magical sword, a new invention, greater knowledge or insight, reconciliation with a lover.  The Ultimate-Boon may be a magic Elixir, the philosophers stone, the holy grail, a new mathematical proof, or a scientific breakthrough.

The Dialectic-Scientist may have earned the Reward outright, or the dialectician may have seen no option but to steal it. The dialectician may rationalize the Elixir theft, having paid for it with the tests and ordeals thus far. But the consequences of the theft must be confronted as the Shadow forces race to reclaim the Elixir that must not see the light of the ordinary Life-World.

The Dialectic-Scientist has found bliss and enlightenment in the transcendent Life-World and  may not want to return to the ordinary Life-World to bestow the boon to their fellow humans.

Having gained the Ultimate-Boon or Elixir and master the ability ability to aufgehoben or sublate dialectic opposites through Atonement-with-the-Father, the Dialectic-Scientist may want to stay in the place where they have found bliss and enlightenment. In comparison, the dull monotony of ‘normal life’ in ordinary Life-World seems unacceptable, making the dialectician want to re-live the excitement in some way.

Campbell: “When the hero-quest has been accomplished, through penetration to the source, or through the grace of some male or female, human or animal, personification, the adventurer still must return with his life-transmuting trophy. The full round, the norm of the monomyth, requires that the hero shall now begin the labor of bringing the runes of wisdom, the Golden Fleece, or his sleeping princess, back into the kingdom of humanity, where the boon may redound to the renewing of the community, the nation, the planet or the ten thousand worlds. But the responsibility has been frequently refused. Even Gautama Buddha, after his triumph, doubted whether the message of realization could be communicated, and saints are reported to have died while in the supernal ecstasy. Numerous indeed are the heroes fabled to have taken up residence forever in the blessed isle of the unaging Goddess of Immortal Being.”

The Dialectic-Scientist begins their journey back to their ordinary Life-World.

This stage in the dialectician’s journey represents a reverse echo, or sublated dialectic reversal, of the Call-to-Adventure in which the Dialectic-Scientist had to cross the first threshold. Now they must return home with their reward but this time the anticipation of danger is replaced with that of acclaim and perhaps vindication, absolution or even exoneration. But the dialecticians journey is not yet over yet, this is the moment before the dialectician finally commits to the last stage of their journey and completing the dialectic movement. This may be a moment in which they have to choose between a higher cause and the personal journey of the heart .

The dialectician must finally recommit to completing the journey and accept The-Road-Back to the ordinary Life-World. The Dialectic-Scientist’s success in the speculative transcendent Life-World may make it difficult to return. Like Crossing-the-Threshold, The-Road-Back, needs an event that will push the dialectician through the Threshold, back into the ordinary Life-World. The event should re-establish the central dialectic dilemma or dramatic question and push the dialectician to action and heighten the stakes. Like any strong turning point, the action initiating The-Road-Back could change the entire  direction of the dialectic movement or journey.

The Dialectic-Scientist faces a final dialectic test where everything is at stake and they must use every dialectic thing they have learned.

This is the climax of the dialectic process in which the Dialectic-Scientist must have their final and most dangerous encounter with death. The final battle represents something far greater than the dialecticians own existence. The outcome of the final battle has far-reaching consequences in the ordinary Life-World and affects the lives of all those they left behind at the Call-to-Adventure.

The dialectician faces Resurrection, their final and most bloody battle with death and overcoming opposites. This final life-and-death ordeal shows that the dialectician has obtained and can apply the Absolute-Knowing and Absolute-Power that they earned Meeting-the-Goddess and during Atonement-with-the-Father. But now they must finally master Absolute-Becoming by passing through the Nothing-of-Being or death.

The Resurrection may be a physical or metaphysical ordeal and is the final showdown between the Dialectic-Scientist and their Shadow; however, the ticking clock of The-Road-Back has been set. This battle is for much more than the dialecticians life or dialectic skills. Other lives and the dialectic ability of the entire world may be at stake. The Dialectic-Scientist must now prove that they have achieved heroic status and are willing to accept their own sacrifice and death, as well as the sacrifice and death of the ordinary Life-World, for the future of the speculative transcendent Life-World.

Allies may come to the rescue last-minute in the last minute to lend assistance, but in the end the Dialectic-Scientist must rise to the sacrifice at hand. They must deliver the blow that destroys the old ordinary Life-World and start to help rebuild the new transcendent Life-World by accessing their newly gained higher level of dialectic Speculative-Reason.

The Dialectic-Scientist now brings Absolute-Becoming – or the “magic elixir” – back to the ordinary Life-World, where they apply it to help all who remain there.

This is the final stage of the Dialectic-Scientist’s journey in which they return home to their ordinary Life-World a transformed being. They will have grown as a dialectician, faced many terrible dangers and even death, and learned many things. Their return may bring fresh hope to those they left behind, a direct solution to their Life-Words problems, or perhaps a new level of cultural development for everyone to live within.

The Return-with-the-Elixir is the final Reward earned on the dialecticians journey. At this stage, the dialectician has been resurrected, purified and has earned the right to be admired in the ordinary Life-World. The Elixir can be a great treasure or magic potion. It could be love, wisdom, or simply the experience of having survived the speculative transcendent Life-World. The dialectician returns with an Elixir and new ability to reason speculatively, which they may now share with others to heal their culture and wounded land by evolving them both within a new cultural epoch.

Having Crossed-the-Return-Threshold and shared the Elixir, or objective speculative reason, with others, the dialectician is now and expert dialectician and may bring closure to their journey and this dialectic cycle. There may still be more questions and ambiguities and lesser dialectic cycles that will continue the journey to the end of the dialecticians life, but in most dialectic movements, the Return with the Elixir completes the cycle for this level of the journey.  Dialectic dilemmas have been resolved, balance has been restored at higher level to the ordinary Life-World, and the dialectician may now embark on a new life, forever enlightened by the journey traveled and the experience of being-consciousness-bliss of absolute-becoming which accompanies the completion of a meaningful dialectic movement.

The Dialectic-Scientist is now an expert dialectician in both Life-Worlds.

Like Plato, Hegel, Jesus or Gautama Buddha the Dialectic-Scientist has become comfortable and competent in both the ordinary and transcendent Life-Worlds.

At last, having conquered the demons without and within, the dialectician has earned the right to live life as they choose. The life of the dialectician may henceforth take an infinite number of paths but they will now have the skills and knowledge necessary to navigate those paths to their fullest. Transcendent paths that ordinary people don’t even know exist are now open to the dialectician. They may become presidents, billionaires,  gurus, entertainers or wold famous scholars. They may choose to get married and settle down with their new found Absolute-Love, or perhaps they will go adventuring again.

Often the dialectician’s existence after returning home is one of conflicts with others. The problem lies in the way that the journey has changed them such that they no longer fit in with the local postmodern culture. As a result they may leave on other adventures, perhaps seeking the highs of the original journey, or the may choose to form a dialectic army and fight back against the postmodern egotists by transforming their society into an antemodern or transcendent Absolute-Culture.

Campbell: “Freedom to pass back and forth across the world division, from the perspective of the apparitions of time to that of the causal deep and back—not contaminating the principles of the one with those of the other, yet permitting the mind to know the one by virtue of the other—is the talent of the master. The Cosmic Dancer, declares Nietzsche, does not rest heavily in a single spot, but gaily, lightly, turns and leaps from one position to another. It is possible to speak from only one point at a time, but that does not invalidate the insights of the rest. The individual, through prolonged psychological discipline, gives up completely all attachment to his personal limitations, idiosyncrasies, hopes and fears, no longer resists the self-annihilation that is prerequisite to rebirth in the realization of truth, and so becomes ripe, at last, for the great at-one-ment. His personal ambitions being totally dissolved, he no longer tries to live but willingly relaxes to whatever may come to pass in him; he becomes, that is to say, an anonymity.”

The Dialectic-Scientist has now found a new freedom for themselves and their culture.

Having overcome the ordinary Life-World and been reborn into the speculative transcendent Life-World, the dialectician now achieves a ‘Freedom to Live’ – that is, the ability to pass freely the between realms. The dialectician is transfigured – unencumbered by personal and pseudo-logical limitations, death and one-sided egotistic postmodern knowledge hold no power over them. Through there sublated dialectic transfiguration, the dialectician and their culture are now the living embodiment of the at-one-ment of all phenomena with the noumenal thing-in-itself.

The dialectician and their culture’s Freedom-to-Live as Absolute-Becoming are now a concrete presence benefiting the world.  This Absolute-Culture perpetually renews itself with the understanding that perfected Absolute Knowing, Doing, Being and Meaning are imperishable and immortal, not finite and relative like the current ordinary postmodern culture.

Freedom to live also means freedom from fear, hope, anxiety and resentments that distract the dialectician and keep them and their culture from living in the here and now, like children at play in their seriousness. It is a characteristic of great people and great cultures that they can just be in the current moment, without resentment towards the future (republicans), the past (democrats), or the absolute (postmodernity).

Campbell: “The hero is the champion of things becoming, not of things become, because he is. “Before Abraham was, I AM.” He does not mistake apparent changelessness in time for the permanence of Being, nor is he fearful of the next moment (or of the ‘other thing’), as destroying the permanent with its change. ‘Nothing retains its own form; but Nature, the greater renewer, ever makes up forms from forms. Be sure that nothing perishes in the whole universe; it does but vary and renew its form.’ Thus the next moment is permitted to come to pass.”
